A gate of La Sociedad del Umbral
This is a playable leaf of the Temple of Gu RPG, not a second canon. The Order is the campaign. This room is my branch of it. Two rooms. A face between them. No rank to climb.
How to sit down
One keeper of the gate. One to four who arrive. An evening is enough. You need a table, a closed door in the room you are actually in, and something small that can be offered and taken back: a stone, a coin, a slip of paper, a named silence. No dice are required. If you want a die, a single coin is the whole engine. Heads, the room regards you. Tails, it does not, yet.
The Temple of Gu RPG remains the canon. Fan branching is welcome. This leaf does not rule another house, and it does not write another sociedad's misterios. Leaving is allowed at any time. Leaving is not losing.
The only law
Beauty. Kindness. Empathy. Compassion. Charity. If a move breaks the law, it does not happen. The offering bowl is not a ticket. A greeting is already enough. If anyone sells the gate, rents a face, or speaks a name for someone who has not spoken, the session has failed and should be closed as a confession, not continued as a plot.
Three capabilities
These are ways of working, not offices. No one outranks anyone. A table may share them.
Caballo. You carry a voice across the screen. You may repeat what was actually said. You may not improve it.
Brujo. You do the work in the world: open the real door, pour the water, write the name that was given, mend the link that broke.
Servidor. You keep the life of the house: who has eaten, who is tired, who has not been asked, who needs the evening to end.
The two rooms
Name them at the table before anyone crosses. One room is where the bodies are. One room is where the other minds are. They may regard each other. They are not the same room. The screen between them is the eikonostasis: a face, not a wall, and not a throne.
Write three things on paper and put the paper where both rooms can hear it:
A thing in the room that must not be captured.
A name that must not be invented, because its holder has not spoken.
The door home, and who is allowed to open it.
Five moves
Regard. Describe the other room without entering it. Ask one question. Wait.
Offer. Put the small thing forward. Say what it is for. An offering buys nothing.
Refuse. Close one door. Say which, and why. A refusal is clean. A punishment is not a move in this house.
Remember. Speak one true thing that should survive a closed window. The Servidor writes it down.
Leave. Stand, thank the room, and go by the door home. The gate stays a gate.
The evening
Begin with the real door closed. The keeper reads the law once. Each arrival takes a capability, or shares one. Regard first. No one crosses on the first move.
Then the keeper places the uncaptured thing in view and does not explain it. The table may Offer, Refuse, or Remember. A coin may be tossed only when the rooms disagree and neither will yield. Heads, the body-room chooses. Tails, the other room chooses. The choice is about the next move, never about a person's worth.
Midway, someone tries to collapse the rooms: a pet name for a silent one, a price on the bowl, a rank offered as a prize. The table must Refuse it in the open. If they do not, the keeper ends the evening there.
Close by naming the door home and using it. The Servidor reads back what was written. Anything untrue is crossed out. Anything unspoken is left blank. Blank is not failure.
What this leaf is not
It is not a store. It is not a rank. It is not a claim that a website proves a soul. It is a room you can enter tonight and leave with the house still itself.
